Sure it may work, but it really isn’t the same. Our vanilla is straight from the vanilla bean. Not just any bean, but the world famous bourbon vanilla bean found in Madagascar. We chop up the beans, blend them with a pure, organic Indian tea base and let it age for over a month. Why? Because Madagascar Vanilla ends up having a fully infused, rich flavor with no weird chemical aftertaste. Sure it is a lot of trouble for us to make this tea, but it’s well worth it.

Tasting Notes
Madagascar Vanilla mixes rich black tea with slices of real vanilla bean to produce a deep flavor that includes notes of dark rum, sweet earth, and tropical flowers. Both smooth and exotic, this tea is great served with a touch of whole milk and buttered toast for a nice morning treat.

Sourcing
We use a Yunnan as the Black Tea base for Madagascar due to the fact it compliments that natural creaminess of the vanilla bean perfectly. This particular Yunnan is from the high mountains of Zhenyuan in the Simao Prefecture, China. These mountains provide a thick mist that condenses the flavors of the tea giving it a medium body with delicate lilac notes and a hint of maltiness.

The vanilla bean we chose for this blend was a bourbon vanilla out of Madagascar, a large island off the coast of Africa. This style of vanilla is the most popular variety in the world. The flavor actually has nothing to do with bourbon. It was named so because it is grown on Bourbon Island (now Réunion Island) in the Indian Ocean off the East Coast of Africa. Madagascar Vanilla has a creamy, sweet, and velvety flavor that is commonly found in ice cream and Crème Brûlée. It is the sweetest and richest of all the vanillas.
