They are used as a part of the developmental care programme pacticed on all NICU or SCBU departments within the NHS in UK hospitals. When babies are born prematurely and in the incubators, it is advised not to over handle. This means mummies and daddies cannot always have those precious cuddles that help with the important parent/baby bonding process, such as kangaroo care, skin to skin, which is essential to baby's development.


This is where Miniboo comes in.. Mummy/Daddy keeps Miniboo on their person to pick up all those lovely mummy smells and then places it next to baby in the incubator, baby can smell mummy/daddy and keep swapping the 2 Miniboos so parent can smell baby too, which in turn, if breast feeding, will help the milk flow.


Research from midwives have also noted Miniboo has helped lower baby's blood pressure. Can also be used with twins that have been separated. Miniboos are the perfect sensitive gift for premature babies and their parents. Miniboos have their own NHS protocol/ guidelines when using on the neonatal unit.

    • When you leave your baby you can swap the Miniboos over, safe in the knowledge your baby is settled and secure with your soothing scent nearby.
    • You will also gain comfort by taking your own Miniboo home, scented by your baby. This has proven to be very beneficial especially for expressing milk at home.
    • Miniboos will be treated as the babies own clothes/blankets are on the unit, and will be washed at home by you. If the Miniboo becomes dirty it will be removed from use for hygiene purposes, and placed in a bag and kept safe until you visit.
