2012年我的专著《现代混凝土科学的问题与研究》由清华大学出版社出版以来，在海内外引起了较大的反响，在民航、铁路、海军、空军、电力等广大施工单位，混凝土搅拌站，各大专院校受到了广泛的关注。
近二十年来，混凝土科学技术出现了翻天覆地的变化，而目前还在使用的混凝土科学的理论、公式和观点，基本上还是二十年前、甚至上百年前总结的，与现代混凝土环境相差巨大，这让国内外许多专家学者都感到十分困惑。本书正是指出了这些问题，同时提出了解决问题的初步方法。
混凝土的灵魂——配合比
配合比是混凝土的灵魂。混凝土的性能、质量和耐久性的好坏都与配合比有直接或间接的关系。工程的设计强度明确以后，现场工程师首先要考虑的是如何做好配合比。怎样才能做好配合比？做配合比时我们的理论依据是什么？应坚持什么样的原则？对现代混凝土来说，无论是理论基础，还是在理论基础之上建立起来的规范，都出现了许多新问题。 这些问题是怎么产生的？如何解决？这些是当前困扰混凝土科技界严重的技术难题。
二十年前，配合比的理论基础有比表面积法、水灰比原理及鲍罗米强度计算公式等 ，以及在此基础上制定的规范，可以说混凝土科学技术理论也是在此基础上发展起来的。那时，依据理论和规范做具体的配合比工作，基本上满足工程需要，也基本符合工程实际。但现在，用二十年前的比表面积理论、水灰比原理和规范来指导现代混凝土，特别是现代混凝土的配合比工作，已经是错误很大，相差千里了。比如说，二十年前，以比表面积法为理论基础制定的配合比规范认为，提高砂率，强度就必然会相应降低，可对现代混凝土来说，却不是这样；适当地加大水灰比，强度也必然会相应降低。对现代低水胶比混凝土来说，这个说法也不一定对。以上种种原因，使现代混凝土的配合比工作，从理论到规范，都出现了混乱和问题，以致现在工地上的配合比工作，主要靠工程师们的经验进行，靠老一代传帮带。所以我们必须重新建立配合比问题的理论基础，使它能和现代混凝土的技术进步相匹配、相适应，并在此基础上建立新的符合工程实际的规范。但现代混凝土的配合比工作，由于受太多的因素影响，因此建立新理论，制定新规范，绝不是一件容易之事，也绝非个人之力所能为。本章是作者根据个人经验，来讲解现代混凝土的配合比理论问题和在做配合比时应注意的原则及事项。以抛砖引玉，向各位专家学者请教。

从世界上次发现天然水泥以来，1824年，英国利兹的一个施工人员约瑟夫阿斯普丁(Joseph Aspdin)提出“波特兰”水泥的一个专利，大家认为这是混凝土技术的开始。有了水泥，还要将粗、细骨料和水与其混合在一起才能形成混凝土，才能进行工作。这四个组分如何搭配，它们各自合理的比例是多少？这就是混凝土配合比问题的首要理论实质。
近二百年来，关于如何进行颗粒的合理搭配 ，配合比在理论上有三种方法，分述如下。
