味苦涩，性涩，略有毒，少入服剂，煎水，可洗疥癞烂脚，捣傅脚趾湿烂，去风邪，去瘀生新，凡跌打骨痛皮肿，用其叶捣烂，下铁锅炒至将焦，即入好酒煮沸，取酒饮之，以其渣敷伤处，消瘀散肿，吾粤造酒之酒饼，即以其叶为原料。

【关订】与【冼订】所用拉丁学名Glycosmis citrifolia Lindl. 为小花山小橘的异名，小花山小橘Glycosmis parviflora (Sims) Kurz 小叶2~4片，产台湾、福建、广东、广西等地。模式标本采自广东。根及叶作草药。而山小橘Clycosnds pentaphylla (Retz.) Correa 小叶5 片，稀3 片，分布于云南南部及西南部。故山橘叶应来源于芸香科山小橘属Glycosmis 植物小花山小橘Glycosmis parviflora (Sims) Kurz. 的叶。见《中国植物志》第四十三卷，第二分册，124~126 页。
《广东植物志》第二卷，254 页。以山小橘Glycosmis parviflora (Sims)Little 之名收载， 将Glycosmis cilrifolia Lindl. 和Glycosmis parvifloraSims 均列为该种的异名，别名山油柑、酒饼叶。产英德以南各地，以西南部（包括海南岛）较常见，生于低海拔坡地的灌丛或疏林中，较常见于平地、路旁的竹林下或灌丛中。并记载其药用价值。《中华本草》第4 册，第十二卷，939~940 页。以山小橘Glycosmis citrifolia (Willd.) Lindl. 之名收载，别名山油柑（《植物分类学报》）、小果（《海南植物志》）、水禾木（《广西药用植物名录》）。根和叶入药，味苦，性平；祛风解表，化痰止咳，理气消积，散瘀消肿。实际三者所述原植物均为同一种，即小花山小橘Glycosmis parviflora (Sims) Kurz。
