校对完全书后一个章节，如释重负！不禁在心里问我自己，作为一名临床医生兼高校教师，临床教学科研任务如此繁重，为什么要花这么时间组织各方专家翻译这本书呢？我一直认为，只有对自己从事的儿科麻醉事业（以及儿童）极其热爱（疼爱）并怀有责任意识的人，才会经常的关注本专业的进展~目的无他，只想能尽可能多的给我们面对的患儿多一些关爱，少一些创伤。医生可作为作为医者的职业，或是事业，又或者是出自内心的挚爱。忽视专业发展，固守已有的经验，便失去了前进的动力。
总而言之，本书翻译主要有三方面的原因：是麻醉学科发展的需要。麻醉学正在向围术期医学转化，但如何真正实施，并无具体的步骤和方法。无疑，首先应该从临床麻醉医生意识转变开始。临床麻醉实际上已从手术室逐渐拓展至整个围术期患儿的管理，将这围术期医学用于儿科麻醉医师的日常工作具有重要意义，当然将这一概念转化为意识也就更为重要；第二，围术期医师的培训应该强化围术期医学课程，兼顾管理的连续性，并明确界定围术期医师必须具备哪些必要的、基本的、中级和高级知识和能力。这本书能为小儿麻醉领域的医师提供一些基本的定义，也是围术期医学在小儿麻醉方面的体现；第三，本书内容能为我们提供一些新的视野，促使小儿麻醉围术期医学的进步。自觉地将眼光投放于行业的领先者和年轻一代的培养，才能由衷地为彼此的进步欢心，这应该成为我们的专业良心。
