十二生肖的形象性使它成为图案的好题材,作为一种装饰,它可以用于一切标明个人所属的物品,如首饰、服装、餐具、茶具上面。又因为中国的传统图案总含有吉祥寓意,因此生肖图案总是描画得很可爱。雷圭元先生曾说:“中国图案形象,从自然形变化为图案形的过程中,多用加强和减弱的艺术手法。加强了特征,就是加强了寓意,使主题更突出,思想更明确,使形式、更适合内容的要求;减弱是减弱妨碍图案造成的某些可省略的部分。”在十二生肖图案中,十二种动物原形并不都是很美的,但生肖图案却夸张了它们的可爱之处,减弱了它们不够的细节。这本图案集是从我校学生“十二生肖图案设计比赛”中的参赛作品中精选出来的。有的动物形象装饰变形,有的是利用汉字或字母的字体变形,还有的借鉴了一些中国传统图案和民间图案的表现手法。尽管各组图案的程度不一,但它们的可取之处是都在创意上下了功夫,具有一种青春活力。这也是我们决定编选这本图案集所希望提倡的主旨。
